Schumacher's usual second year ‘jump' may not happen

Guenther Steiner fears the second-year improvement for which Mick Schumacher has become renowned may have already happened. That may sound like a contradiction-in-terms regarding Schumacher’s Formula 1 career because it has lasted for only one season so far. But the Haas team principal has come up with what he sees as a valid reason for thinking the big leap in year two, which the German driver made in junior categories, may not actually materialise in Formula 1 – although naturally he hopes it does. There has been evidence dating right back to Formula 4 in 2015 and 2016 that the son of Michael Schumacher, the seven-time former World Champion, needs a season to bed in before producing...
