Alonso: Qualifying was better than I expected

Fernando Alonso appeared to be happy with his performance in qualifying for the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix as he dragged his Alpine car into Q3. The Spaniard had looked to be struggling with the A521 throughout practice, but rolled back the years when the pressure mounted. While his teammate Esteban Ocon failed to get out of Q1, with yellow flags disrupting his final run, Alonso put his car ninth on the grid.
